Returning from sleep Part 2 Empty Returning from sleep Part 2

Sun Sep 02, 2018 7:25 pm

It was the middle of the night when Maya found herself unable to sleep as she laid down in that hospital bed. There was just so many things going through her mind. It had been a week since she woke up from her coma and she has been having trouble adjusting. It wasn't all that easy as according to her memories, she was a New York police detective. The doctor had confirmed the story of the nurse and even the precinct she thought she was a part of collaborated it. It seems the story was true yet, if she were truly honest with herself, she would admit she found it hard to accept. After all, in her dream she did a lot of good. She got many criminals off the streets and helped saved lives, even if it costed her the love of her life, and now she was just supposed to accept that none of it happened? That she was still just some wrestler? A retired wrestler at that as she was told she had decided to fully retire after an accident, if you could call it that, happened at one of the fed's she used to be a part of.

Maya's eyes slowly opened as her mind continued to think over the past week. How she had been looked at and checked on by the doctor and different nurses. She even had some visits from her family, which the encounters made her slightly uncomfortable as neither of them were who they used to be, at least according to her memories. But her first visitors were her parents, Kristy and Michael Jensen. Well, more accurate her mother and step-father. They both seemed very relieved by her waking up. Her mother was hiding it under that judgmental glare of hers, at least that hadn't exactly changed. Still, it wasn't all that bad.

Among the others visitors was an old friend of hers, Annabelle Jackson. Annabelle also had a role in her dreams yet, now she was back to being one of her parent's staff who helped with things around the house. Though, Maya had to remind herself that she wasn't back too that employment, she hadn't left. Another visitor she got was her older sister, Britney Jensen. She seemed quite relieved that she was up finally. But the one-person Maya hadn't seen return, was Mizore.

Mizore... now there was a name that sent a flutter in her heart right before it started to ache. In her dream... Mizore was dead. Strange, how Maya could always feel here close, yet wasn't there. At times she could almost feel like she could just reach out and touch her, but could never do so. More evidence of the dream, she guessed. The problem though was that if that was the case, she could only imagine what she said to Mizore when she woke up must of been like. She wasn't even sure of what to even do. After all, part of her still believes that it was all a lie, and she'll fall asleep and wake back up to the world she had left. Another part just gets on to her for what she did and she wasn't sure what she could even do... it wasn't like she moved on in her dream. She still loved Mizore but... She just wasn't sure what to do any more. And tomorrow, she was finally getting discharged. Which meant finally returning to the home that burnt down so long ago... No... what she dreamt burnt down. Either way, Mizore would be waiting for her there, at least she hoped. After all she had heard a few things that Mizore was going through some things. She wasn't really given any details but didn't seem they knew all of it either.

Maya wasn't sure exactly what would await her when she finally returned home but she knew that she'd would have to face it one way or another. So, she did her best to try and clear her mind as she laid her head back down and closed her eyes. Hoping that sleep would come.

It was later next day as Maya finished putting on her clothes as she sat on the edge of the bed waiting for the nurse in the room to finish the final bit of paper work. Maya didn't really look over to the other individual in the room, a red head by the name of Annabelle Jackson. Annabelle was charged with taking her back home and to see if she needed anything afterwards. Maya looked silent as she waited yet inside she was wondering just how things would play out once she finally got back home, the place where Mizore would be waiting for her. It was then that the nurse looked up from the computer screen.

-Nurse-
"All finished. If you need any help..."

-Maya Jensen-
"I'm fine."

Maya cut the nurse off as she knew walking may be a bit difficult with how long she's been off her feet but she was determined to do it. She then rose to her feet as they shook slightly from the weight. The eyes of the nurse and Annabelle were on her as Maya took a few shaky steps forward. Maya then took a moment to calm herself before looking to Annabelle.

-Maya Jensen-
"Let's go."

Annabelle nodded as she walked over to Maya before the two of them headed out of the door. They headed through the halls of the hospital as Maya was getting more used to her legs. Maya a bit annoyed from the issue but refused to get help as she soon made it out of the hospital and to the parking lot where her Synergy Green Camaro waited. Maya caught the license plates as she put her hands on the door handle.

-Maya Jensen-
"I see you got it fixed while I was out."

Annabelle glanced over wondering what she meant before she realized.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"Oh, this wasn't the car we were using during the accident."

Maya glanced back as she opened the door to the car.

-Maya Jensen-
"It wasn't? Then what were we doing exactly?"

Annabelle opened her own door as she spoke.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"You don't remember?"

This caused Maya to shoot Annabelle a look causing Annabelle to realize how dumb her question was.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"Oh right, sorry forgot. But we were on the way back from your parents, after getting the news that the special doctor's treatment would work for your eyes."

-Maya Jensen-
"My eyes?"

Annabelle nods.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"Don't remember being blind?"

Maya paused a moment. She recalled some kind of incident, but she wasn't sure what parts of it were real and what weren't. Annabelle caught the look.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"Well, you were for about a month before you slipped into the coma. Your mother had the surgery to fix it done while you still were. Most people didn't think it was a good idea, but the window of opportunity was slipping us by."

Maya caught the tone Annabelle was giving off. It sounded like she had mixed feelings on the subject but Maya let it go as she got into the car followed by Annabelle. Annabelle started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, soon enough making the drive back to Maya's house in Albany. It was silent as Maya was contemplating on the encounter ahead of her. Her mind was still confused but she did believe that there was no longer some kind of conspiracy going on. She just wished she could just feel normal about all this, yet the memories of her realistic dream made it hard to do so. Suddenly, Annabelle broke the silence between them.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"I know I should have brought this up sooner, but Mizore won't be back home for some time. She's staying at her father's place in Rawlins Wyoming."

That got Maya's attention as she glanced over. Did Mizore really not want to see her? Maya couldn't exactly blame her after what she did when she woke.

-Maya Jensen-
"Explains why you're picking me up instead of her."

Maya had wondered that but had figured Mizore wanted to post pone their next encounter, seems she was partially correct. Annabelle gives a nod.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"Yeah. Your mother would have been here but she's busy working as per usual. I'll be there to help you get settled in, and well, I don't think she wants you to be alone in your house after all that's been going on."

Maya nods again. In her dreams, the house had burned down and she could quiet imagine just how much of an emotional impact sitting foot back into the place again would cause her. Even more so with Mizore not being there. So, for the rest of the ride, the two stayed in silent. Maya just looks out the window as the familiar streets pass them by. She knew the way but it just felt like it had been years since she last took this route. Soon, the house came into view and Maya's heart leapt slightly. How long has it been since she last saw this place intact? Her eye caught the other car in the driveway, but she recognized it as Annabelle's car. Maya would have wondered why Annabelle decided to use Maya's Camaro to pick her up instead of the that one but her mind was more on the house itself. Once Annabelle parked the car, Maya got out and made her way to the door. She tried the door knob but found it locked. Forgetting she didn't exactly have any keys on her, she instantly reached for her pocket and found it empty.

-Annabelle Jackson-
"I got the key right here."

Annabelle walked up to the door as she unlocked it. She opened it and held it open for Maya to enter. Maya prepared herself mentally as she took a step a step inside. She was met with an overwhelming feeling as she looked around the old familiar place. A small smile itching into her lips. She was home.
